02About me

Independent since 2003 — by conviction.

I build software, advise teams and teach IT — for more than twenty-five years, from Berlin, for companies and startups.

It all started on a C128: first BASIC, then assembler — and the fascination with computers and everything around them has never let go of me. I have been working as a software developer since 2000, independently since 2003.

My focus is on web technologies across the entire stack: from the interface to the API to the cloud infrastructure. I like solutions that last — and code the next team will still enjoy reading.

In my spare time I tinker with microcontrollers and hardware — Arduino, ESP8266/ESP32, sensors, MQTT. As co-founder of 1less GmbH, that turned into a business: an IoT-based reusable tableware system with RFID technology and sensors, built to cut down on single-use plastic waste.

And since 2016 I have been teaching IT topics — courses, workshops and training, in German and English. The AI literacy training under Art. 4 EU AI Act has a site of its own: svenhermann.de.
